Helping fleet managers drive down costs
Bridgestone says its fleet management solution, Webfleet, helps South African fleet managers save costs, improve safety, and keep drivers motivated by turning hidden costs into measurable savings.
“Inefficient routing is a hidden tax on South African businesses. It eats into profits, creates safety concerns and hinders businesses from operating effectively. The right technology can mitigate this. It doesn’t just map out roads, it creates opportunities to save costs, improve safety and keep drivers motivated,” says Webfleet country sales manager Michelle De Freitas.
Dynamic route planning enables the impromptu adjustment of journeys, taking into account live traffic, congestion and roadworks. Smart dispatch tools aim to ensure that the right job goes to the right driver at the right time. Webfleet is designed to integrate into workflows, giving drivers clear instructions and updates to reduce unnecessarily-long routes, lower fuel bills and improve reliability for customers.
Route optimisation can help improve productivity, as drivers spend more time completing jobs and less time idling in traffic. Globally, Webfleet says its customers have reported up to 15% reduction in fuel consumption and a 20% improvement in on-time deliveries. Optimised routing also reduces wear and tear on vehicles, cutting maintenance costs and extending fleet lifespans.
Webfleet highlights the positive impact of optimised routing in the South African context, in the following key areas:
- Efficiency: helping businesses thrive in a market where every litre of fuel counts.
- Ecology: lowering emissions and easing pressure on infrastructure that is already stretched.
- Empowerment: giving fleet managers and drivers the tools they need to work smarter and safer.
De Freitas notes: “Every optimised trip contributes to a healthier bottom line today, and a more sustainable transport ecosystem for tomorrow.”
